A Dhaka court has rejected the bail petition of Oishee Rahman, the prime suspect in her parents' murder - Special Branch Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and Swapna Rahman.
Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order in presence of Oishee on the morning of Sunday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jahrul Haque passed the order after hearing the bail plea from Defence Counsel Mahbub Hasan Rana.
The court also directed the jail authorities to take an initiative in supplying textbooks to Oishee as she will appear in the O-level examinations scheduled to be held in May as per the jail code.
On August 16, Oishee’s father, Mahfuzur Rahman, 48, and his wife Swapna Rahman, 40, were found dead in their Chamelibagh flat.
A day after the murder, Mahfuz’s brother Moshiur Rahman filed a murder case with Paltan police station against unnamed individuals.
Oishee, the 19-year-old accused of murdering her parents, Police Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Begum surrendered to the police on August 17 and was remanded for five days from August 18, where she confessed her involvement in the killing on August 25. However, she later retracted the confession.
