Court to announce date for verdict today

A Chittagong court will announce the date for delivering verdict in two cases related to the recovery of 10-truck arms and ammunition today.

Public Prosecutor (PP) Kamal Uddin Ahmed said the tribunal would declare the date for announcing the much-awaited verdict in the cases on completion of verbal arguments by the defence lawyers.

“The nation will at last be able to see the result of the prolonged trial in the cases,” he said, adding that they were optimistic of getting the verdict within few weeks.

Earlier, Judge SM Mojibur Rahman of Chittagong Metropolitan Special Tribunal 1 ordered the defence lawyers to complete their argument by today, while the Kamal Uddin Ahmed concluded his argument yesterday.

The PP, however, sought two more days for submitting his elaborate argument in written form, which was granted by the court.
