Shammi, Bakul sent to jail

A Dhaka court has scrapped bail and remand petitions for BNP lawmakers Shammi Akhter and Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bakul in two separate cases on Thursday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Maruf Hossain dismissed both petitions after hearing and sent the duo in jail.

Police sought seven days to grill Shammi Akhter over a Banani police case regarding vandalism and arson near Titumir College. The defence pleaded for a bail.

The judge dismissed both petitions and sent the BNP leader to jail allowing interrogation in prison within five working days if needed.

Police also sought remand for Sakhawat Hossain over a Bhatari police case regarding arson and explosion. The defense also sought a bail plea.

The judge dismissed both and sent the BNP lawmaker to jail allowing interrogation in prison within eight working days if needed.
