The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to file seven cases against eight upazila and union parishad chairmen on charges of misappropriating over 100 tonnes of wheat from a rural infrastructure development project under the government’s Test Relief Programme.
The Commission at a recent meeting approved proposals to file cases against them.
The eight chairmen who are going to be sued are Jhenaigati Upazila (Sherpur district) Chairman Aminul Islam Badsha, Kangsa Union Parishad Chairman Abdur Rouf Sarker, Dhansail Union Parishad Chairman Riazul Islam, Gauripur Union Parishad Chairman Sultan Ahmad Khoka, Hatibandha Union Parishad Chairman Nasir Uddin, Malijhikanda Union Parishad Chairman M Safiuddin, Jhenaigati Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Zainal Abedin and Nalkura Union Parishad Chairman Khalilur Rahman, reports UNB.

ACC Deputy Director Jahangir Alam (Sherpur district office) conducted the inquiry into the graft allegation.
The cases will be filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.
