A Dhaka court Thursday dismissed a case, two hours after it was filed by BNP against 35 policemen, including two top officer of DMP Motijheel zone, for allegedly trying to kill Assistant Secretary for Student Affairs of opposition BNP Sultan Salauddin Tuku.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Harun-or-Rashid passed the order after hearing arguments.
Earlier in the day, Assistant Secretary for legal affairs of BNP Md Khorshed Alam filed the case accusing two named and 33 unnamed police officials.
The top police officers are Motijheel zone Deputy Commissioner Ashrafuzzaman and Assistant Deputy Commissioner Mehedi Hasan.
The case statement stated that the accused police officials “intentionally” attacked a vehicle in the convoy of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday night and “beat up” in order to kill him.
The police on Monday night “assaulted” a vehicle in the convoy of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and arrested Tuku in front of the party office at Nayapaltan in the capital.
On Tuesday, Tuku was shown arrested in two cases of vandalism and police assault. He was placed on a six-day remand on the same day.
