A Dhaka court on Thursday placed six leaders of Islami Shashantantra Chhatra Andolan including its president on a two-day police remand in a case filed under Information, Communication and Technology Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Asaduzzaman Noor passed the order after Sub-Inspector Shahidullah Prodhan of Paltan police station produced the six before the court with a prayer for a seven-day remand.
The six accused are the organisation’s president Md Ariful Islam, its literature affairs secretary Md Rahmatullah, madrasa affairs secretary Md Imdadullah, publications affairs secretary Abdur Rahman, metropolitan unit madrasa affairs secretary Md Sirajul Islam and central leader Sheikh Md Maruf.
The court rejected the bail petition filed by the defence lawyer in favour of the accused and granted a two-day police remand after the hearing.
On September 26, Rab arrested the six leaders from the organisation’s headquarters in Noakhali Tower of Purana Paltan in the capital for allegedly propagating their ideas on the organisation’s Facebook page against the state and the government.
Deputy Assistant Director Md Mofizur Rahman of Rab 3 filed the case with Paltan police station against the accused.
