DB takes charge of Osman Hadi attack case

The case filed at Paltan Model Police Station over the attempted murder of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Mancha, has been transferred to the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB), Motijheel division.

The transfer was confirmed on Monday by DB Additional Police Commissioner Shafiqul Islam, who stated that the DB Motijheel division will now conduct the investigation.

Investigating officer, Inspector (Operations) Yasin Mia of Paltan Police Station, said the case was lodged on Sunday following the shooting, and formally handed over to the DB Motijheel division on Monday.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in Box Culvert area, Bijoynagar, when Hadi was shot by unidentified assailants. He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, then transferred to Evercare Hospital. On Monday afternoon, Hadi was flown to Singapore by air ambulance for advanced treatment.

Three people, including the owner of the motorcycle used in the attack, were initially arrested. Later, the prime suspect Faisal’s wife, brother-in-law, and girlfriend were also taken into custody. However, Faisal and the motorcycle driver remain at large, reportedly having crossed the border into India.
