The International Crimes Tribunal 1 on Wednesday said Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s family had “a huge investment” in the incident of "leaking" the tribunal’s verdict.
The tribunal disclosed its observation at the court room a day after sentencing the BNP leader to gallows.
The tribunal said the “leak” was unacceptable and it was done to tarnish the image of the tribunal in the country and abroad.
On Tuesday, ICT 1 sentenced the first BNP leader, SQ Chowdhury, to the gallows for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
Family and lawyers of the BNP lawmaker had alleged that they "possessed a copy" of the verdict before it was delivered. They claimed it had been "leaked" from the law ministry.
