A trial court in Barisal awarded life term imprisonment to a female drug peddler on Thursday.
Matiar Rahman, first additional district and session judge of Barisal handed down the verdict after examining eight witnesses and other evidences.
Baby Begum, wife of Aminul Islam Harun, resident of Notun Bazaar area in Barisal was convicted.
She was also fined with Tk60,000, that would result into six more months of imprisonment if not paid.
A team of Narcotic Control Department held baby from her house in a raid on August 23, 2009 and recovered four liters of Phensedyl and 30 empty bottles for peddling the liquor.
Inspector Yusuf Ali of the department lodged a case under Narcotic Control Act with Barisal Kotwali Police Station on the same night.
