President Shahabuddin orders probe against 12 judges

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has directed an investigation into the allegations against several Supreme Court judges.

This information was disclosed by the Supreme Court administration on Monday. 

The 12 judges are: Naima Haider, Sheikh Hasan Arif, Ashish Ranjan Das, Mohammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar, SM Moniruzzaman, Ataur Rahman Khan, Sahed Noor Uddin, Md Akhtaruzzaman, Md Aminul Islam, SM Masud Hossain Dolon, Khizir Hayat and Khondokar Diliruzzaman.

The Supreme Judicial Council will carry out an inquiry into these judges.

The allegations regarding misconduct and collusion with the government were raised against some judges during the period before August 5.

Earlier, on October 16, due to allegations of corruption and working in favor of the Awami League-led government, Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed sent 12 judges on leave.

They were relieved of their duties on the High Court bench.

The investigation process will begin next week, according to the Supreme Judicial Council.

Following the investigation, the report with recommendations will be sent to the President, in accordance with the procedure.
