Judge jailed for carrying phensedyl

A Dhaka court on Tuesday sentenced a senior assistant judge from Bhola to four years of imprisonment after his being arrested on December 1 last year for the possession of 342 bottles of phensedyl.

Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Session Judge pronounced the sentence for Judge Jabed Imam.

On August 13, the court had fixed August 27 to deliver the verdict on the case.

Judges heard 10 out of 13 enlisted witnesses of the case.

Lawyer Gopal Chandra Saha moved for the accused judge in the case under the Narcotics Control Act.

Jabed Imam was freed on bail once on February 22.

Investigation officer of the case SI Shafiqul Islam of New Market police station filed the charge sheet of the case against Jabed Imam.
