10 chairman aspirants sent to jail

A Brahmanbaria court Monday sent seven upazila parishad chairmen and three vice-chairmen aspirants to jail on charge of not submitting cost statement of elections.

District Chief Magistrate Shafiul Azam passed the order in presence of the accused, according to banglanews.

The aspirants were Nabinagar upazila chairman candidates Molai Mia, Golam Shahriar, Mostaque Ahmed, Jasim Uddin, Monir Hossain, Humayun Kabir, Abdullah Master, vice-chairman candidates Mosharraf Hossain, Golam Hossain Titu and Ahuganj upazila vice-chairmen candidate Jalal Uddin.

The case statement read, in 2009 upazila parishad election, the accused did not submit cost statements of election to the Election Commission.
