A total of 114 foreign nationals are languishing in jail in Bangladesh despite completion of their prison terms.
The foreigners sentenced to different jail terms here are from India, Pakistan, Hungary, Nigeria and various European countries.
A banglanews24.com report states that 111 ill-fated men and three women are yet to return to their respective homelands due to “legal complexity.”
Assistant General Inspector of Prison (administration) AKM Zahiruddin Babar said: “They are unable to send them home as the entire process is complicated and time consuming. The Prison Department sends a formal reminder every month to the foreign ministry in this regard. The next course of action will be decided by the ministry concerned.”
