Report on Kaiser to be submitted on July 16

The International Crimes Tribunal-2 asked the prosecution to submit a progress report on the investigation against Syed Mohammad Kaiser, a minister of the military dictator Ershad’s regime on July 18 on the charges of crimes against humanity during the War of Independence in 1971. Tribunal ordered the prison authority to place him before tribunal that day.

Prosecutor Rana Das Gupta placed a progress investigation report before tribunal Monday and said, “We are investigating his crimes during the Liberation War. We need some more time to finish the investigation process.”

Das Gupta told the tribunal that the investigation team had obtained many evidences against Kaiser for his crimes against humanity. After the hearing, ICT-2 led by Justice Obaidul Hasan, set the next date for hearing on the progress of the probe report on July 16.

On May 15, ICT-2 issued an arrest warrant and asked the police to take necessary steps to arrest Jatiya Party leader Syed Kaiser as the prosecution filed an application in the Registrar’s Office of the tribunal seeking his arrest.
