A Chittagong court deferred the scheduled cross-examination of the investigation officer (IO) in the 10- trucks’ arms and ammunition case on Thursday as he failed to appear before the court due to illness.
Chittagong Metropolitan Special Tribunal - 1 Judge SM Majibur Rahman fixed July 1 for resuming the cross examination following a petition filed by public prosecutor Kamal Uddin Ahmad citing illness of the IO.
The defence lawyers initiated cross-examination of the IO, Additional Superintendent of Police (CID) Mohammed Moniruzzaman, on May 6 on completion of his deposition. The court started recording the IO’s deposition on April 22.
On April 2, 2004, the police seized the weapon’s haul when they were being loaded on to 10 trucks from two engine-boats at the jetty of the Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited in Rangadia, Anwara, Chittagong.
Ahadur Rahman, the then Karnaphuli Police Station officer-in-charge, filed two cases on April 3, 2004.
