The High Court has ordered Awami League MP Manjurul Islam Liton of Gaibandha-1 constituency to surrender before the trial court by October 18 in a case filed for shooting a minor boy in Sundarganj upazila of the district.
A two-member bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Bhishmo Dev Chakraborty passed the order on Monday, rejecting his anticipatory bail petition, reports our sister concern Bangla Tribune.
Earlier in the day, the bench ordered Liton to appear before the court by 1pm.
Following the order, much-talked-about ruling party’s lawmaker appeared before the court around 1pm.

On October 2, minor boy Sourav, 8, son of Sazu Miah of Gopalcharan village, was injured with stray bullets allegedly fired by Manjurul Islam Liton, MP, at the village in Sundarganj upazila in Rangpur.
Later, the boy who received two bullets in his two legs was rushed to Sundarganj Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Liton's father Shaju Mia filed a case against Liton on October 3. Liton went into hiding after the case was filed.
On October 8, one Hafizur Rahman of Uttor Shahbaz village filed another case against Liton and nine others over the matter.
Besides, the licences of two firearms of the MP were revoked for ‘the sake of public safety’.
