62% of the total deaths in the county are results of non-transmittable diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and heart attacks.
Speakers have said this at a seminar on nutrition and non transmittable diseases: responsibility of youths held at Jessore Science and Technology University jointly organised by Food and Technology Department, JSTU and Asia Arsenic Network on Wednesday.
Professor Dr Abdus Sattar, vice-chancellor of JSTU was the chief guest of the seminar while the key note paper was presented by Mashiur Rahman, project manager of AAN.
The seminar was also attended, among others, by Professor Sheikh Mahfuz- Al-Hasan, Shirin Nigar, Prof Dr Anisur Rahman, Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman, Dr Ziaul Amin and Tarun Hore.
The speakers in the seminar said risks of death in non-transmittable diseases are increasing day by day in the country due to lack of awareness.
They suggested that everyone should be conscious enough to free people from such diseases
