The death toll from the measles outbreak has reached 1,122 after eight more people died from measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours.
During the period, 1,109 people were hospitalized with measles-like symptoms, including 82 confirmed measles cases. However, no one died from confirmed measles during the period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in a press release on the measles situation on Saturday.
According to the release, a total of 21,666 people have been confirmed to have measles since March 15, while 195,197 suspected measles cases have been reported.
So far, 173,024 people have been hospitalized, of whom 167,756 have recovered and returned home.
Of the 1,122 deaths recorded so far, 102 were confirmed measles deaths and 1,020 were suspected measles deaths.
