Health officials on Wednesday said they recorded 1,948 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least six persons in the last 24 hours.
“Out of 1,948, 212 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 343 in Chittagong division, 320 in Dhaka division, 210 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 189 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 248 in Khulna division, 102 in Mymensingh division, 211 in Rajshahi division, 99 in Rangpur division and 14 in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 245 deaths while the disease inflicted 79,620.
The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.
