Six more people have died from dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,868 new patients were admitted to hospitals as the mosquito-borne disease continues to spread across the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported the figures in a statement issued on Wednesday, covering the period from 8am Tuesday to 8am Wednesday.
Among the newly admitted patients, 405 were from Dhaka division, 113 from Mymensingh division, 317 from Chittagong division, 280 from Khulna division, 59 from Rangpur division, 156 from Rajshahi division, 178 from Barisal division and 8 from Sylhet division.
The statement said 67,367 dengue patients had been admitted to hospitals across the country from the beginning of the year until Wednesday.
Of them, 62,117 had been discharged, while 5,049 were receiving treatment in hospitals.
A total of 201 people had died of dengue during the same period.
