Health officials today said they recorded 1,872 fresh cases of dengue, onslaughts killing at least five persons in the past 24 hours.
“During the period, (of the 1,872) 190 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 285 in Chittagong division, 391 in Dhaka division, 191 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 159 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 316 in Khulna division, 105 in Mymensingh division, 162 in Rajshahi division, 67 in Rangpur division and six in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaught, Bangladesh this year has witnessed so far 195 deaths while the disease inflicted 65,499.
Dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.
Besides, dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
