Health officials on Tuesday said they recorded 1,324 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least five deaths in the past 24 hours.
"During the period, (of the 1,324) 121 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 139 in Chittagong division, 298 in Dhaka division, 138 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 142 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 246 in Khulna division, 87 in Mymensingh division, 114 in Rajshahi division, 34 in Rangpur division and five in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year has witnessed so far 102 deaths, while the disease inflicted 37,170.
Dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.
Besides, dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
