Health officials on Sunday said they recorded 1,097 fresh cases of dengue, with at least three people dying from the disease in the past 24 hours.
“During the period, (of the 1,097) 123 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 116 in Chittagong division, 258 in Dhaka division, 109 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 82 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 243 in Khulna division, 81 in Mymensingh division, 76 in Rajshahi division, six in Rangpur division and three in Sylhet division,” a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the dengue outbreak began in Bangladesh this year, the disease has so far claimed 93 lives and infected 34,783 people.
Dengue claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people in the country last year.
Besides, dengue claimed 575 lives and infected 101,214 people in 2024.
