Health officials report 756 fresh cases of dengue infection overnight

Health officials on Tuesday said they recorded 756 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours.

“During the period, (of the 756) 80 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 89 in Chittagong division, 158 in Dhaka division, 106 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 110 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 101 in Khulna division, 27 in Mymensingh division, 63 in Rajshahi division, 17 in Rangpur division and five in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaught, Bangladesh this year has witnessed so far 61 deaths while the disease inflicted 20,727.

Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
