Dengue: 195 cases recorded in 24 hours

Health officials on Wednesday said they recorded 195 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours.

“During the period, (of the 195) 15 patients were hospitalized in Barisal division, 77 in Chittagong division, 21 in Dhaka division, 34 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 26 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 10 in Khulna division and 12 in Rangpur division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year has witnessed so far 59 deaths while the disease inflicted 17,409.

Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
