Measles outbreak: Death toll reaches 803 as six die in 24 hours  

Six more children have died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Wednesday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 803.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified all six of the latest casualties as suspected.

With the latest figures, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 708, while the number of confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 95, as no new confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

Dhaka recorded the highest number of the six new suspected fatalities, with four deaths reported in both the division and district.

A total of 904 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 120,352.

During the same period, 133 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 14,841.

Since March 15, 2026, a total of 103,078 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 99,294 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
