Measles outbreak: Death toll reaches 759 as one dies in 24 hours

One more child has died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Monday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 759.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified the latest casualty as suspected.

With the latest figures, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 665, while the number of confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 94, as no new confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

The single new suspected fatality was reported in the Sylhet division, specifically within the Sunamganj district.

A total of 896 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Monday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 112,376.

During the same period, 113 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 13,613.

Since March 15, 2026, a total of 95,196 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country, of whom 91,483 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to the DGHS.
