Bangladesh recorded 16 more child deaths from measles in the 24 hours to 8am Sunday, taking the total death toll to 528 since March 15, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
All 16 deaths were classified as suspected measles-related fatalities, while laboratory-confirmed deaths were zero, the DGHS bulletin said.
Dhaka district recorded the highest number of deaths, with 8.
Since March 15, the country has recorded 442 suspected measles deaths and 86 confirmed deaths.
During the same period, 1,306 new suspected measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of suspected infections to 63,813.
The DGHS also reported 128 new confirmed measles cases, raising the cumulative number of confirmed infections to 8,622.
