Measles-related deaths continue to rise across the country, with fresh infections and fatalities reported in the latest 24-hour period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the past 24 hours alone, 1,337 new cases of measles and measles-like symptoms have been detected nationwide. During the same period, 11 deaths were reported, two confirmed as measles and nine others involving patients showing measles-like symptoms, the DGHS daily bulletin issued on Tuesday said.
DGHS data further shows that over the past two months, a total of 475 children have died due to measles and related complications. Of them, 77 deaths were confirmed as measles, while the remaining 398 were among children who exhibited measles-like symptoms.
