Two more children have died with measles symptoms in Sylhet division in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths linked to the outbreak in the division this year to 34.
Meanwhile, 54 more patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals during the same period.
The information was revealed in the “Measles and Rubella Patient Report” published by the Sylhet Divisional Health Director’s Office on Saturday.
According to the report, the two children died while undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The deceased were identified as Al Saif, the five-month-old son of Abul Kalam of Kulaura in Moulvibazar, and Rafa Akhter, the eight-month-old daughter of Abul Hossain of Chhatak in Sunamganj.
Currently, 336 people with suspected measles are undergoing treatment at various government and private hospitals in the Sylhet division.
Among them, the highest number of patients, 123, are admitted to Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital, while 74 are receiving treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
