Health officials on Sunday said they recorded 387 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least five persons in the past 24 hours.
"We recorded deaths of five dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8am on Sunday," a spokesman of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, adding his office simultaneously recorded 387 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts during the same period.
"Out of the 387 fresh cases, 40 were hospitalized in Barisal division, 71 in Chittagong division, 83 in Dhaka division excluding capital, 55 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 53 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 33 in Khulna division, 26 in Mymensingh division, 22 in Rajshahi division and four in Sylhet division," a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year, 409 deaths have been reported, while the disease inflicted 100,447.
The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
