Two more deaths from dengue were reported in the 24 hours until Wednesday morning, raising the country’s total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 127 this year.
During the same period, 445 more patients were hospitalized with viral fever, bringing the total number of cases to 32,946, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
New cases were reported as follows: 78 in Barisal Division (out of CC), 98 in Chittagong Division (out of CC), 24 in Mymensingh Division (out of CC), 21 in Rajshahi Division (out of CC), six in Rangpur Division (out of CC), three in Sylhet Division (out of CC), 69 in Dhaka Division (out of CC), 59 in Dhaka North City Corporation, and 87 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives. In 2023, 1,705 people died from the disease, making it the deadliest year on record.
The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
