As three more patients died in 24 hours to Tuesday morning, Bangladesh has officially recorded 51 dengue-related deaths this year, marking a grim milestone as the country enters the peak of the monsoon season.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the figure in a bulletin.
Alongside the rising death toll, the total number of dengue cases this year has crossed the 13,000 mark, with 425 new hospital admissions reported in the 24 hours.
A total of 2,892 dengue cases have been reported in just the first eight days of July, making it the month with the highest daily average so far this year.
In comparison, June recorded 5,951 cases, while May saw 1,773.
In the last 24 hours, 377 patients were discharged from hospitals.
So far, 11,786 dengue patients have recovered since January.
