Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Sunday visited the Central Medical Store Depot (CMSD) in Dhaka’s Tejgaon and witnessed several irregularities in the process.
According to the health ministry, DGHS Director General Prof Dr ABM Khurshid Alam and Health Services Division Secretary Md Jahangir Alam accompanied the minister on the visit.
The health minister observed the entire facility of the CMSD for about 35 minutes and inquired officials about various issues, including the expiry of some unused medical products.
The officials were unable to answer his questions.
He asked the officials concerned to submit a report including the list of the products in storage, the delivery date of the products, upcoming deliveries and reasons behind damage to products within seven days.
Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen asked the DGHS director general and Health Services Division secretary to collect the report on time and conduct a meeting to take necessary steps accordingly.
