Authorities at a state-run hospital in Narail town have show-caused eight doctors over irregularities following a visit by local MP and former national cricketer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
In a surprise visit to the Narail Adhunik Sadar Hospital on Saturday, the ruling party lawmaker pointed out several irregularities and asked the authorities to take measures.
According to him, people from the low-income group travel miles to take treatment at the hospital, where the patients are not provided with the food they are supposed to get.
“The doctors are not there. Patients do not get medicine. This is unacceptable,” he told local reporters.
Following the visit, the hospital authorities sought explanations from the doctors as well as two medical pathologists, said Dr Asad-uz-Zaman Munshi, the hospital supervisor.
“The contractor has been told to withdraw one of his employees from the hospital over irregularities on food for patients,” he said.
