Covid-19: Bangladesh records 2 deaths, 264 new cases

Bangladesh recorded two more deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours between 8am Sunday and 8am Monday, down from seven deaths the previous day.

With the latest development, the death toll from Covid reaches 27,955 since March last year.

As many as 264 new cases were registered in the 24 hours. At the same time, 339 patients recovered from the disease across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Some 18614 samples were tested at 836 labs around the country, yielding a positivity rate of 1.42%.

Bangladesh tallied seven fatalities from Covid on Sunday, only a day after recording zero single-day deaths first time since April 3, 2020.

The latest data released on Monday afternoon took the nation’s Covid total caseload to 1,574,352 and total recoveries to 1,538,537.

According to the data, the country’s overall Covid-19 mortality rate until Monday remained static at 1.78% and overall recovery rate at 97.73% while the overall positivity rate climbed down to 14.66%.
