A total of 9,411 healthcare professionals, including doctors and other staff, have so far tested positive for Covid-19 across the country, according to the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).
President of the organization Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and Secretary General Itheshamul Haque Chowdhury confirmed the matter in a press release on Sunday.
Out of the total, some 3,117 are doctors, 2,279 are nurses while the rest are health workers.
The BMA, however, did not mention the number of deaths among the patients.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Bangladesh registered 43 deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours to Sunday morning.
With the latest development, the total number of deaths reached 27,225 in the country.
With 1,383 people tested positive over the same period, the number of total infections rose to 1,542,683.
