Bangladesh to receive over 780,000 AstraZeneca vaccines from Japan Saturday

Bangladesh is set to receive 781,440 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from Japan on Saturday.

A flight of All Nippon Airways left Japan's Narita International Airport with the vaccines on Friday.

The vaccines are scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday on a Cathay Pacific flight.

With this shipment, the total amount of vaccines dispatched from Japan stands at over 2.4 million.

This delivery is a part of Japan's commitment to supplying over 3 million doses of vaccines under the WHO-Covax mechanism.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed was present at the airport when the vaccines were dispatched.

Counsellor (Labour) Md Zakir Hossain and First Secretary (Political) Arif Mohammad were also present at that time.
