A total of 985 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Chittagong district during the last 24 hours.
The number of Covid-19 cases in Chittagong district is on the rise rapidly. Records are being broken every day.
Health officials said the number of cases of the lethal disease speedily rose to 83,871 as 985 more people were reported Covid-19 positive after testing 2,786 samples on Sunday in the district.
The infection rate was 35.35% during the period, the sources added.
“The infection rate is showing a quick rising trend again and the recovery rate is also gradually reducing continuously in the district in the recent weeks,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, focal person of Covid-19 and civil surgeon of Chittagong, told BSS on Monday.

Health experts of Chittagong urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow the health rules and wear masks.
Among the newly detected patients, 692 are from Chittagong city and 293 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
“With the 11 new fatalities, the number of coronavirus [Covid-19] deaths in Chittagong reached 984,” Dr Rabbi added.
“Among the reported fatalities, 593 were residents of the port city and the rest 391 were from different upazilas of the district,” he continued.
The Civil surgeon said among the total infected patients, 62,790 are the residents of the port city and the rest 21,101 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district.
A total of 3,795 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals in Chittagong, the health official mentioned.
