Khulna division counts 52 deaths in a day

As many as 52 people died of coronavirus in different districts of Khulna division in the 24 hours to 8am Monday.

Daily fatalities in the southwestern division, bordering India, hit a record high of 71 on July 9, followed by 60 on July 11.

Besides, 1,165 people tested positive for the disease during the same period, Khulna Divisional Health Office confirmed.

Of the fatalities, 12 were reported from Khulna district, 14 in Kushtia, 11 in Jessore, five in Meherpur, four in Jhenaidah, andtwo each in Bagerhat and Magura.

The latest figures take the number of cases in the division to 82,586 and the death toll to 1,947 since the pandemic began.

 Overall, 54,405 patients have recovered from the infectious disease, where the second wave induced by the Delta variant has left hospitals overwhelmed.
