Citizens who have received their first Covid vaccine jab can no longer change the designated hospitals or vaccination centres for their second dose.
Dr Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the Vaccine Deployment Committee, disclosed the development during a virtual bulletin on Sunday.
The vaccine takers will be notified about their vaccination date by their designated facilities through SMS.
On April 29, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) decided to allow people to change vaccine centres considering restrictions on movement during lockdown.
“Vaccine registration is now open and anyone over the age of 35 will get inoculated,” said Dr Shamsul, adding that one would get an SMS after completing the registration process.

People can then go to their chosen vaccine centre on the specific day mentioned in the SMS and get vaccinated, the official added.
He said that attempts to get vaccinated before or after the scheduled date would create a lot of complications as the information might not reach the health directorate’s database.
“And if this happens, the vaccine takers may face problems during their second dose or to secure a vaccination certificate,” Dr Shamsul added.
He also emphasized that no one would get inoculated without registering through the “Surokkha” website.
Speaking on the vaccines received under the Covax facility, he said that the vaccination centres across the country would start administering the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine from Tuesday.
Bangladesh has received a total of 100,602 Pfizer jabs and they are being administered at four medical colleges and three specialized hospitals in Dhaka.
“These facilities will also start administering the Moderna jabs once they run out of their Pfizer stock,” Dr Shamsul said at the press briefing.
