One more person has died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours to Friday morning, raising the total number of deaths in the district to 98 due to the pandemic.
“The number of Covid-19 cases climbed to 3,867 as 63 more people were detected positive in the rapid antigen test of 492 samples in the district in the same period, with an infection rate of 12.8%,” sources at the district civil surgeon’s office confirmed.
The new fatality is reported from Shibganj upazila.
Among the newly detected patients, 26 people are from Sadar upazila, 25 from Shibganj upazila, nine from Gomastapur upazila, two from Nachole upazila and one from Bholahat upazila.
A total of 1,284 patients - 73 in dedicated Covid-19 hospital and others at home quarantine - are undergoing treatment in the district, while 2,486 patients have recovered from the lethal virus in Chapainawabganj so far, the sources added.
