1.5-month-old infant tests positive for Covid-19 in Kushtia

A one and half month-old child on Tuesday tested positive for Covid-19 in Kushtia.

Doctors at Kushtia General Hospital (KGH) said that this is the first coronavirus case found in such a young body in the bordering district.

Contacted, Dr MA Momen, superintendent at KGH, said that the child was admitted to the hospital's children's ward on Monday with a cold and fever.

Seeing the symptoms, on-duty doctors on that day suspected that the infant was infected with the deadly virus and collected samples for testing.

On Tuesday, the rt-PCR lab report showed that the child was Covid positive.

Iftekhar Hasan, an on-duty doctor at the hospital's coronavirus ward, said they had never seen an infant of such a young age being infected with the virus.

“The child is being given necessary treatment at the hospital’s Covid-19 ward,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, five more people died of coronavirus in KGH.
