Bangladesh has registered 61 deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours to Tuesday morning.
With the latest development, the total number of deaths reached 11,705 in the country.
The country also logged a total of 765,596 coronavirus cases with 1,914 people testing positive over the same period.
The latest figures show an infection rate of 8.71%. To date, 5,540,394 tests have been conducted in the country, leading to an overall infection rate of 13.82%.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the latest figures on Covid-19 in the country with a press release on Tuesday.
Of the 61 deceased – 36 men and 25 women – 28 were from Dhaka division, 18 from Chittagong, seven from Rajshahi, two each from Barisal, Sylhet, and Rangpur, and one each from Mymensingh and Khulna divisions.
Of them, 59 died while undergoing treatment at the different hospitals of the country and two died at home.

Forty-four of the deceased patients were aged above 60, 11 between 51 and 60, two between 41 and 50, three aged between 31 and 40, and one aged between 11-20.
So far, 8,512 men (72.72%) and 3,193 women (27.28%) have died from Covid-19 across the country.
Since the beginning, 6,812 people have died in Dhaka division, 2,134 in Chittagong, 614 in Rajshahi, 713 in Khulna, 355 in Barisal, 403 in Sylhet, 430 in Rangpur, and 244 in Mymensingh.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.51%.
The health authorities said 3,870 people recovered from the disease over the preceding 24 hours.
So far, 695,032 patients – 90.78% – have made full recovery across the country.
As many as 21,984 samples, including the pending ones, were tested in the 420 authorized labs – government and private – across the country.
Currently, 19,234 people are in isolation and 49,488 are quarantined.

On March 8, health authorities in Bangladesh reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus strain which was later named Sars-CoV-2.
The novel coronavirus broke out in China's Wuhan city in late December, 2019 and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
The fast-spreading coronavirus has claimed more than 3,228,000 lives and infected as many as 154,233,000 people across the world till Tuesday afternoon, according to worldometer.
As many as 131,676,000 people have recovered from Covid-19, which has affected 219 countries and territories across the planet.
