Bangladesh recorded 1,452 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours till Saturday morning, which is the lowest in 48 days.
On Friday, 2,177 new cases were logged. It was on March 14 when a lower number of 1,159 Covid cases was reported across the country.
The latest figures showed an infection rate of 9.61% in the 24 hours to Saturday morning, according to data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the new infections, the total number of cases has risen to 760,584.
The country also registered 60 more deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the number of total fatalities to 11,510.
Of the 60 deceased – 37 men and 23 women – 28 were from Dhaka division, 19 from Chittagong, five each from Khulna and Rajshahi, two from Rangpur and one from Barisal divisions.
All the patients died while undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.
Thirty-seven of the deceased patients were aged above 60, 10 between 51 and 60, seven between 41 and 50, two aged between 31 and 40, three aged between 21 and 30, and one aged between 11-20.
So far, 8,390 men (72.89%) and 3,120 women (27.11%) have died from Covid-19 in the country.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 6,714 people have died in Dhaka division, 2,085 in Chittagong, 604 in Rajshahi, 703 in Khulna, 344 in Barisal, 394 in Sylhet, 424 in Rangpur and 242 in Mymensingh.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.51%.
The health authorities have reported that 3,145 people recovered from the disease over the preceding 24 hours.
So far, 684,671 patients – 90.02% – have made full recovery across the country.
As many as 15,117 samples, including the pending ones, were tested in the 420 authorized labs – government and private – across the country.
The latest figures show an infection rate of 9.61%. To date, 5,484,821 tests have been conducted in the country, leading to an overall infection rate of 13.87%.
Currently, 19,594 people are in isolation and 50,651 have been quarantined.
On March 8 last year, the country’s health authorities reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus strain which was later named Sars-CoV-2.
The novel coronavirus broke out in China's Wuhan city in late December 2019 and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
The fast-spreading coronavirus has claimed more than 3,196,000 lives and infected as many as 152,111,000 people across the world till Saturday afternoon, according to worldometer.
As many as 129,418,000 people have recovered from Covid-19, which has affected 219 countries and territories across the planet.
