The daily test-positivity rate for Covid-19 in Bangladesh has remained below the 3% mark for four consecutive days.
The latest figures showed an infection rate of 2.85% in the 24 hours till Friday morning, according to a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) press release.
It is to be noted that the infection rate rose to 3.15% on Monday, after remaining below the 3% mark for 10 days at a stretch.
A total of 406 new infections were reported from 14,232 samples tested in the 24-hour time frame.
The seven-day moving average for daily new cases on Friday was 386. The number was 385 and 389 on Thursday and Wednesday, respectively.
At the same time, eight people died across the country from the infection, taking the number of total fatalities to 8,337.
The DGHS said a total of 14,438 samples were collected from suspected Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours for testing at 214 authorized labs across the country.
The overall infection rate in the country now stands at 13.83% from 3,922,489 tests conducted so far.
The total number of reported cases in the country stands at 542,674.

Meanwhile, as many as 536 patients recovered from the contagious disease in the 24-hour period, taking the total number of recoveries to 490,468.
The country's recovery rate now stands at 90.38%.
Of the eight deaths reported on Friday — six men and two women — four were from Dhaka, three from Chittagong, and one from Barisal.
All of them died at different hospitals.
So far, 6,311 men (75.70%) and 2,026 women (24.30%) have died of Covid-19 across the country.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected stands at 1.54%.
