Another doctor dies with Covid-19 symptoms in Chittagong

Another doctor died with the novel coronavirus ( Covid-19) like symptoms while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chittagong early Monday.

The deceased identified as Md Hasan Murad, 45, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Parkview Hospital.

Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Principal Prof Dr Shameem Hasan confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.

Dr Murad was working at the RT PCR laboratory under the Microbiology Department of the CMC.

The physician was admitted to the hospital on December 6.  

According to the information provided by Chittagong Civil Surgeon office, a total of 196, 927 samples have been tested while 28,767 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19.

The total positivity rate so far stands at 14.60 percent.

As on December 20, a total of 27,553 people have recovered from the deadly viral disease.

Of them, 3751 people recovered while undergoing treatment at different hospitals while 23802 people have recovered in home isolation.

The total recovery rate so far stands at 94.77 percent.

So far, a total of 343 people have succumbed to the deadly viral disease.

The total mortality rate so far stands at 1.19 percent.

On April 3, Chittagong recorded the first case of Covid-19.

Warning of a possible second wave of the novel coronavirus in winter, Chittagong Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi urged all to abide by all the health regulations and social distancing.   

A total of 13 doctors have died of Covid-19 in Chittagong district.
