Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam, his wife and daughter have been discharged from Kurmitola General Hospital after making full recovery from Covid-19.
The DNCC mayor, his wife Dr Shaila Shagufta Islam and daughter Bushra Islam tested negative on Tuesday and they were discharged from the hospital around 1:30pm. They tested positive on October 11.
"As I felt feverish, I did the test and the result came out positive on Sunday night. At the same time my wife also tested positive," Atiq had said on October 12.
Alongside the mayor, several DNCC officials, including its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Selim Reza, and Atiq's Assistant Personal Secretary-2 Rishad Morshed had also tested positive, confirmed ASM Mamun, the spokesperson of the city corporation.
According to the DNCC officials, Atiq faced a crowd last week while visiting the cleaning activities at Godakhali canal in South Bishal area of Mirpur.
