Another policeman dies from Covid-19, toll now 74

One more policeman has died from Covid-19, raising the death toll from the pandemic among Bangladeshi police to 74.

The deceased was Md Abdul Alim Mollah, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) at the Sadar Court of Natore district.

He had been admitted to the Central Police Hospital at Rajarbagh with symptoms of Covid-19 on September 5. 

He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Monday afternoon, according to a press release from police headquarters.

Alim joined the police force as a constable on August 29, 1995. He hailed from Dhakshintawsara village in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat district. 

He is survived by a wife and two children.

Alim’s body was sent to his village home under the management of Bangladesh Police and buried at his family graveyard in the presence of senior police officers.
