Sultana Latifa Zaman Irin, a gynecologist at the Chittagong Mother and Child Hospital, died from coronavirus infection yesterday while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Dr Fahim Reza, Assistant Director of Chittagong Maa O Shishu Hospital said the physician breathed her last at 1:00pm in CMCH.
Irin Zaman, who was a 14th batch student of Comilla Medical College and Hospital, died at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital while undergoing treatment.
With this, 64 doctors have died of Covid-19 in the country so far, and ten more have died with coronavirus symptoms, said Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury, Joint Secretary of Foundation for Doctors Safety Rights and Responsibility (FDSR).
